My co-worker has bought a '79 datsun to use for hauling trash as it costs him 80$ a month to pay to have it done. Problem is the thing doesn't run and I know for a fact the problem is electrical. Anyone know a good manual that will walk you through troubleshooting processes on these vehicles? I'm not talkin real basic "why is there no fuel at the injector" stuff. Nothing at all turns on. Lights, nothing. Anyways, does anyone know a good manual I could buy that will walk me through troubleshooting the electrical system? Much appreciated.

Hi T/A Josh,

We have a book that covers that truck - it's Haynes manual no. 28022, Datsun 620 Series Pick-ups, '73 - '79. It includes a good set of wiring diagrams, one of them specific to 1979 U.S. models. That might be the most valuable thing in the book for you to help you diagnose you friend's truck's problem.

Just a hint - check the fusible link near the battery. Since you're not getting juice to anything, that sounds like it might be the problem.
